There are some things that I feel passionately about, and one of those things is that the holiday season is a time when I consciously make an effort to find ways to help others. I am one of those people who tries to find the perfect gift for people in my life who make my life better every day as a way of showing them how much I appreciate the things that they do! I think this type of gift-giving also extends to the gifts that I choose. I prefer to buy items that I know will give back to others in other ways through donations to charities. To me it is a doubly great deal – you give a great gift to someone you care about and your gift also helps others! What a win/win!
Kirkland’s is one example of a company who has found a way to help people donate to a great cause during the holiday season why decorating their homes! According to their information, “Kirkland’s is a leading specialty retailer of home décor in the United States , operating approximately 289 stores in 29 states…Our stores present a broad selection of distinctive merchandise, including framed art, mirrors, candles, lamps, picture frames, accent rugs, garden accessories and artificial floral products. Our stores also offer an extensive assortment of holiday merchandise, as well as items carried throughout the year suitable for giving as gifts. We provide our customers an engaging shopping experience characterized by a diverse, ever-changing merchandise selection at surprisingly attractive prices. Our stores offer a unique combination of style and value that has led to our emergence as a leader in home décor and has enabled us to develop a strong customer loyalty.”
As a means of giving back, Kirkland’s is selling a Hope Ornament and $1.00 from each ornament sold will be donated directly to Camp Charley, Camp Charley, which is part of the Charley Foundation, offers a once-in-a-lifetime camp experience for children who are seriously ill. I LOVE the idea behind this project – not only do you receive a beautiful ornament to put on your tree or give as a gift, but you know that your purchase has helped children with serious illnesses to have an amazing camping experience! To me, it truly embodies the whole idea of the holiday spirit!
