I love companies that work to promote positive messages with the world around them! When I saw the collections designed by Gloster Global, I was immediately drawn to them and wanted to learn more about them. I found out, as I looked into the company, that in addition to designing beautiful jewelry and sculptures, they are also have an amazing world vision!
According to their website, while Gloster Global originally began as a media, public relations and marketing agency, the company’s vision changed when founder Michael Gloster travelled to Zimbabwe “Since then, in an effort to facilitate economic growth and stability in vulnerable areas, Gloster Global has worked throughout Africa to help build collaborative, African-owned businesses that can participate in the global economy. In particular, Gloster Global has specialized in developing and importing its family-themed artwork from southern Africa for mass-market retail under its registered SAAFAIR® trademark. Emphasizing fair trade and fair treatment, Gloster Global brought a unique art form — Shona Stone Sculpture — to American and global markets at affordable prices while generating consistent income for its creators. The Glosters experience and skills ensured that viable products could reach a broader market, providing benefit and recognition to both the artist and his community. Gloster Global continues to try to generate income for Zimbabwean artists amidst the political and economic turmoil that has overtaken their country in recent years. By translating some of the original sculpture designs into jewelry that can be produced outside of Zimbabwe, Victoria and Michael hope to help support the many talented sculptors with whom they have worked over the years.”
I received a piece from the T.A.O. (Together As One) Signature Jewelry collection. The T.A.O. Pendant with Lapis Teardrop was described on the website as a “beautiful large silver pendant with a rich deep blue Lapis teardrop bead depicts an eternal bond of love. Soul mates, these dancing couples celebrate the union of two people. Like the circles formed by the joined figures and the heart shape formed by the space between them, this expression of intimacy signifies a never-ending connection…Pendants are approximately 24mm each in diameter with 12 x 8 mm naturally striated Lapis beads. All of our pendants come boxed with an 18″ silk cord with sterling clasp. The beads we use are natural, minimally processed by hand, and variegated so each is unique.” Even with this spectacular description, I wasn’t ready by how much this necklace blew me away when I saw it!
I found the design of the pendant to be both beautiful and touching – the image of two people connected to one another embraces the name of this collection. As well, for me, the Lapis teardrop is simply gorgeous – I love the raw beauty in the lapis stone. On a personal love, I also loved the fact that the Argentium Silver comes from Costa Rica as I have been to Costa Rica and it added a special significance to me! Overall, I found myself drawn to this pendant like no other jewelry I have ever owned!
I am in love with T.A.O. Pendant with Lapis Teardrop from Gloster Global. I love the fact that you can get pendants with a number of different stones as well as matching earrings (or you can buy them as a set). I’m already looking at various pieces that I think my best friend might like as she has a landmark birthday coming up this year and I think she’d love these pieces as much as I do!
