I always think of Canadians as being very kind and generous people, but I think it is always great to remind people that random acts of kindness are a great way to make someone’s life better!
Mars Canada has found a way to encourage people and measure the kindness of our nation – how cool is that?!
“Hey Canada – we think we’re kind but what if we actually put ourselves to the test? Are we as kind as we think we are? What if we could measure this kindness? Mars Canada Inc. is back with the RANDOM ACTS OF CHOCOLATE® Campaign and is challenging Canadians this year to commit 50,000 acts of kindness in order to kick-start a movement. Each kind act will actually be measured by a unique Kindness Meter for everyone to see how kind we really are!
Canadian Football League (CFL) legend Michael “Pinball” Clemons teamed up with this unique Campaign in 2010 and is back for a second year to inspire people to do one of the things that he does best, to be kind. Michael is an exemplary Kindness Ambassador himself. He is an icon of sporting excellence, community leadership, personal character and integrity and is an individual who best embodies what kindness, giving and compassion are all about. He is an incredible example of someone who genuinely cares about the people around him, and practices kindness every day.
The Kindness Meter is a reminder and motivator that as Canadians, we need to act on kindness every day. It is the small gestures that go a long way, and the Random Acts of Chocolate® Campaign enables Canadians to commit these acts by providing some of the “tools” that will help inspire generosity while also giving back to local communities.”

With the chocolate I received from Mars Canada, I decided to share it! My husband couldn’t stop singing the praises of the Mars bars and discovered he loves the silkiness of Dove chocolate (which he’d never tried before). The girls were excited to have M&Ms and I shared a Snickers bar with myself! It reinforced how much fun sharing can be and how much pleasure a small gift can make for another person!
