It’s funny how kids can relate one thing to another! When Little One heard me read the title of Zoe Gets Ready, she immediately said, “That’s like Eddie Gets Ready for School!” which is another great Scholastic book that we have.
And when she saw the cover, she couldn’t stop moving it around to look at the sparkles (she really appreciates a sparkly cover!).
Each day is full of possibilities, and Zoe wants to be ready for everything this one might bring. But that makes getting dressed really, really hard! If it’s a twirling day, she’ll need to wear the purple skirt. But if it’s a cartwheeling day, she’ll want the polka-dot tights. Or it might be a hiding day, perfect for the flower crown that will help her blend into the garden… or a flying day, which demands butterfly wings!
As the clothes pile up and Mama tells her it’s time to go, there’s only one way Zoe can be sure she’s prepared for all the adventures ahead—a solution that will have parents laughing in recognition and kids nodding in satisfaction. Zoe Gets Ready is perfect for all those little girls who wouldn’t have things any other way.
As we read the story of Zoe, who gets to choose her clothes on a Saturday, Little One said that Zoe was like Miss Eight, while she automatically associated herslef with Zoe’s little sister (“That’s me!”).
The illustrations in this book are fun and whimsical as well as being really detailed – every time we read the book she notices something new!
I think Zoe Gets Ready is a really fun book for preschoolers and I think Little One will appreciate it even more when she starts going to school in the fall!
