I think one of my favourite things about Family Day in Ontario is that it falls so close to Valentine’s Day! This year, we will be celebrating throughout the weekend – there is nothing that beats Valentine’s Day except Valentine’s DAYS!
The girls actually received some cool gifts in the days leading up to V-Day thanks to Hallmark Canada!
The thing that I appreciate about the girls is that their difference in age means that they often don’t want the same thing! That being said, Little One isn’t always the best at explaining what she does want!
Case in point? The adorable Valentine’s Day animals from Hallmark!
When the girls saw the Love Ya Pup and the Ultimate Gift Bear, I thought there was going to be a battle over which one of them got which. Little One seem to be eyeing Love Ya Pup and Miss Nine had him firmly in her grasp. What to do, what to do? Well, in this house, the answer was obvious — Rock Paper Scissors! The girls played a best of three (and we won’t talk about the quivering lip when Little One lost the 2nd round!) and, in the end, Little One was victorious. So who does she pick? The Ultimate Gift Bear of course (I have to admit that it made me laugh….we didn’t even have to play as they each wanted a different one but that’s neither here nor there…).
And both girls adore the Something for You Pup! This little pup lets you put something in his mouth (like a card, or a small gift) and, when you remove the item, he gives a little “grrr” and “ruff ruff”. I have to admit — it even makes me chuckle (I know I’ve mentioned before that I’m nothing more than a big kid myself!).
The sweetest thing is that the girls are also willing to share. They know that one of my friends collects pigs so when they saw the Cupig we played with it for a bit (how could you not? It is a singing and dancing cupid pig for heaven’s sake!) the girls thought we should give it to my friend as a gift from us all!
Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy upcoming Family Day! If you get a chance, follow our example and turn the extra holiday into an extended Valentine’s Day weekend!
