Sabatasso’s New Gluten-Free Pizza! (It tastes too good to be gluten-free!)

When I was in university, my favourite foods were ones that were convenient and tasted good (which is funny because I still basically feel the same way!). I had a friend with a Price Club membership at the time (or Costco as it is know now) and we’d head off to shop.

My favourite items to purchase (other than those that were a great deal – my frugal living hasn’t changed!) were things that I enjoyed that I could only buy there! And one of my staples? Sabatasso’s Deep Dish Pizza Singles! I am starting to drool a little bit just thinking about them!

So when I was asked to try a new Thin and Crispy Gluten Free Pizza that is available exclusively at Costco, I was even more pumped to discover that the maker of these pizzas are none other than Sabatasso’s! (And I swear – I started drooling again!)

Well, with a cousin who is gluten intolerant, I love the fact that there is a gluten-free crust. And I know it is true to its word because this pizza is certified as part of the Canadian Celiac Association Gluten-Free Certification Association.

So now we could invite her over for pizza! But what would everyone else think about it?

They were shocked when I revealed these pizzas are gluten free!

Some of the comments included:
“I never thought I’d like something gluten-free” ~Sister-In-Law

“I LIKE IT!” ~Little One

“I can’t wait to go to Costco and pick up more of these pizzas.” Cousin who is gluten intolerant (and rocks because she invited me on a Costco trip with her!)

“Can I have another slice?” ~Miss Nine

“Hey, have you got any more of those pizzas at home?” ~Brother

I think what makes the pizza taste so good is the combination of the light and crispy crust because it really makes the toppings (which are a blend of cheese toppings, including mozzarella, fontina, parmesan and Asiago, combined with a rich pizza sauces) shine! That being said, this pizza definitely holds its own as my dad decided to make one and loaded it with extra toppings and the crust held up!

I also appreciate the fact that these pizzas come in pairs because when you get a group of people together (like my extended family!) a lot of pizza can be consumed! The pizzas are individually wrapped, however, so you can easily use one at a time.

I think my brother’s response best describes the attitude of everyone. I think Sabatasso’s Thin and Crispy Gluten Free Pizza is so good that’s hard to believe it’s gluten free (though it definitely is!)

I’ve never had a sabatassos pizza of any kind 😦 but my husband and I are trying to get as gluten free as possible. My sister has a Costco membership so I may ask her to pick me up a couple, they sound delicious!

    Thanks

I’m not allergic to gluten but it seems to be a healthier alternative anyway.

My kids prefer plain pizza like this. I am definitely going to pick some up at my next Costco visit!

That sounds amazing! So many GF products are lacking in taste/are heavy – it’s pretty amazing that this pizza was a hit with everyone who tried it!

I have some GF family members – id really love to hook them up with a great pizza night 🙂

I’ve tried these with some cooked, crumbled italian sausage, mushrooms and olives on top with an extra dusting of Parmesan cheese. Wonderful!

I don’t have problems with gluten myself, but my sister is gluten intolerant. It’s so good to see that there are more and more gluten-free products on the market today!

I think that once someone in your family is diagnosed as ‘celiac,’ everyone in the family becomes interested in finding ‘gluten-free’ foods. Fortunately, the larger chains seem to be taking this food allergy seriously and carry many such foods. We, Pizza lovers, are happy that Sabatassos carry Glluten-free pizza and thank you for telling us about it.-el03ro

Thanks for letting me know about these and that they are good. I am having to cut back on the Gluten in my diet so I will look for these this week when we go to Costco!

It is a good thing to have found a gluten free pizza that tastes good.

I have never tried a Sabatasso’s pizza and I am totally sure I would never have bought this one due to it being gluten free! My grandson was suspected of being gluten intolerant and practically everything that was gluten free tasted like cardboard. Luckily, he isn’t intolerant and can once again enjoy normal food but I do think it’s fantastic that there is something tasty out there for those poor people who aren’t as lucky as we are. I wish I’d read about this whilst he was on his diet.

My mom needs gluten free food now. This would be a great option for her.
