Tourism Visitors Bureau – the Tourist Attractions and Staycations

Staycations have been a mainstay here for the month of July. But it’s hard to get creative and come up with ideas. Then it hit me — why not find the tourist attractions by visiting the tourism visitors bureau? Then we could become hometown tourists!

A quick visit to the tourism visitors bureau yielded many great ideas of places that I swear I knew about at one time but, being a local, had completely forgot!

One of the best little spots that was “re-found” was a great little hidden park near the Art Gallery. While one part of the park is easily accessible and quite visible (and absolutely gorgeous with a sweet and serene waterfall area that also entertains the kids with the areas to run around), the forgotten part of this area was the most fun!

Behind the gallery is a little path and then some fun wooden steps. Because it is in a area with foliage it even feels like an adventure! And, when you come out the other side? Some great art that kids (big and small!) could play in!

What a great idea! It is SO easy to forget about the things that make your city special when you live here… We are very blessed in my neck of the woods to have back to back festivals running all summer long – I have been trying to get to those to experience something different… and like yourself, see the sights tourists would want to see!

Here in Victoria we have a “Tourist in your home town” even every spring! Its great to take the kids along and introduce them to most of the tourist attractions in town. Its a great way to see your home town, through others eyes!

It’s easy to take our neighbourhood for granted…

August 22-Your visit to the Tourist Bureau is a wonderful idea for anyone who wants to be made aware of the attractions in their area which they didn’t know about or had forgotten these special places. On a visit to a family member in Ottawa, I took my daughter to Parliament Hill and toured there. It was a wonderful experience. My sister, who has been there for years, has never visited it! Sometimes, we do not appreciate our places of history and/or wonder.-el03ro

  5. I love the idea of staycation but the weather here where i live is so variable that it’s hard to plan what to do!
