Crock-Pot Review and Giveaway (Canada)

It’s funny because, until a few monthes ago, I was a kitchen appliance minimalist. I had a hand mixer and a blender and that was about it! Part of the issue was/is counter and cupboard space – our present kitchen has pretty limited space for storage. I also had never really used appliances so I wasn’t sure the benefit of using them were.

I last owned a slow cooker when I was in university. It was a tiny unit and was perfect for the “one pot wonders” I’ve always enjoyed making. It got lost somewhere among the numerous moves I made during those years and I’d completely forgotten how easy and flavourful slow cooker recipes could be. Luckily, Crock-Pot has reminded me and showed me that it can be an integral part of a busy lifestyle!

When I received the Designer Series Programmable Crock-Pot Slow Cooker, I found myself admiring how attractive it was (who knew a slow cooker could be so pretty!?). The stainless steel exterior is attractive – far nicer than the slow cooker of my university days! – and the stoneware container looks good enough to be used right at the table.

I also learned easy the Crock-Pot is to use. It has one-touch control (which means I don’t have to waste time figuring out what button and lever does what!) and there are 4 different timed settings (HIGH for 4 or 6 hours or LOW for 8 or 10 hours). Worried about keeping your meal warm once cooking is done? No problem with the Crock-Pot because it automatically shifts to a warm setting when cooking is done! I literally can load up the slow cooker, turn it on and go about my daily business. Why didn’t I think of this before?

And my favourite part of the Designer Series Programmable Crock-Pot Slow Cooker is the lid itself. It has a lining around it so it fit perfectly into the stoneware, which means that even when you move it from the slow cooker to the table, it stays warm!

And both cleaning and storage are easy! I had a little mishap when pureeing my Leek, Potato and Carrot Soup and ended up mucking up the beautiful stainless steel! All it took was a damp cloth and it looked as good as new! I also discovered that washing the stoneware and lid are super easy (which I really appreciate!). And storage? Despite its 6 quart capacity, it takes up very little counter space and is small enough to fit onto a shelf in my kitchen island. And the best part? The retractable cord (which reminds of the cord I have on vacuum cleaner) is awesome because it means I’m not worrying about a loose cord or trying to figure out a way to jam the cord into a tight space!

I’ve already been cooking up a storm with my Designer Series Programmable Crock-Pot Slow Cooker (keep an eye out for more healthy slow cooker recipes in the future!) and now you can win one as well!
