Making the Right Choices Easy – Life Choices Foods – Review and Giveaway (Canada)

I consider myself a pretty picker eater when it comes to food products. I am always on the hunt for products that both taste great but are also healthy. I think it is important to find a balance between these two elements because healthy food really can taste good!

I recently had the opportunity to try some products from Life Choices Foods. When I ran across their website, I realized that I had seen them in my local grocery store in the Healthy Eating section but that I had never tried them. Once I began reading about their products on their site, however, I knew that there were many Life Choice Foods products that I wanted to try!

Life Choices Foods includes a wide variety of products – their products range from All-Beef Hot Dogs, Breaded Fish and Chicken and Meatballs to Mac and Cheese, Pierogies and Pizzas!!

Before I had a chance to try out their products, I was already impressed by the quality of the products in Life Choices Foods products as well as their company’s philosophies. According to their website, here are some of the things that Life Choices Foods does in terms of their products, the environment and local Canadian communities: “We have made a commitment to take your family’s health and wellness seriously when it comes to eating. We strongly believe that by delivering the healthiest and best options to you, we increase your energy and drive to give you the opportunity to give back more! Everything we do uses a sustainability focused business approach that focuses on minimizing our environmental footprint. This means sourcing as much local raw material as possible and staying conscious of how our product is packaged and how far it will travel. We are constantly seeking out opportunities for involvement in community programs, groups and associations. This allows us to not only give back to the community, but also to increase awareness in sustainability and the organic and natural food industry.”

Even more than their philosophy, however, I was impressed with the way that they produce their food! All of their  chicken products, for example, are “vegetable grain-fed, raised without animal by-products and raised without antibiotics”. That fact really appealed to me because I try really hard to source of meat products that meet this criteria because I believe they are healthier and my family has found that they generally also taste better! Similarly, when I read the description of their All Beef Hot Dogs, I liked what I read! According to their website, their AllBeef HotDogs are “Nitrite Free, Only Prime Cuts of Beef, Vegetable Grain Fed, Raised Without Antibiotics, No Added Hormones, From Sustainable Agriculture, No Fillers or By-Products, Gluten Free [and] Peanut Free”. Because I love eating hotdogs (it is one of my “comfort foods” from my own childhood), I’m always trying to find the healthiest version that I can without compromising the health of my family! I also loved the sound of their Italian Meatballs because they even have vegetables hidden in them! “Our Beef Meatballs are produced from Sustainable Agriculture using our premium quality beef; organic vegetable grain-fed and raised without any by-products, antibiotics or added growth hormone. For the fussiest of eaters, they even have HIDDEN organic vegetables! Providing your family with a source of Omega-3, fibre and iron, Life Choices Italian Meatballs are fun and tasty any night of the week.”

I decided to try the Chicken Strips, Italian Meatballs and Family Pizza. While my husband was impressed with the type of chicken being used in the Chicken Strips, he was leery about the multigrain coating because he didn’t think he would like it (sometimes he is the pickiest eater in our house!). When he tried them, he had to admit that he actually liked the texture of the coating which was good because everyone in the house liked them! I was impressed with the flavour of the chicken – the quality of the meat really shone through! We also enjoyed the Italian Meatballs (which were really moist – and noone could believe they had vegetables in them!) and the pizza was a great change to our normally greasy takeout version!

I like the products I tried from Life Choices Foods – I like the philosophy behind the products, I like that they are a Canadian company and, most of all, I like the food!
